The
Design Process
~ Consultation ~
The
initial phase of consultation usually takes place in the client's home
(but can be done in our store), and consists of a question, answer and
discussion session. The designer will ask you questions about your colors,
fabric, and furniture style preferences. We want to consider all aspects
of your home so that individual rooms and spaces will "flow"
and coordinate. As part of the interview, our designer will spend some
time going through your home making notes and taking photos if needed.
Typically, this initial meeting takes about an hour. This is also an
appropriate time to discuss a target budget and time frame.
~ Presentation ~
After
the designer has left your home, they will begin developing a design
scheme individually tailored to you and your specifications. Fabrics
and colors are chosen, furniture styles selected and floor plans are
created. During the presentation, you will be shown specific fabrics,
colors, furniture and window treatment styles, as well as anything required
to give you a clear mental picture of our proposal for your home. At
this time, prices are presented for each specific item that is recommended.
Naturally, there is considerable discussion during this presentation
through questions you may raise. Something not to your liking, perhaps
a fabric, a furniture style, or color scheme can be modified to suit
your preferences. An additional meeting may be required to finally "tune"
the proposal based on your new input.
~ Ordering and Installation ~
You
may then give us the "go-ahead" for as much or as little of
the project as you wish. This of course considers the parameters of
special dates and budget. At this point, we place orders with a minimum
of a 50% deposit. Given the completion of the ordering phase, a detailed
plan for implementation is drawn up. Since your project may require
the use of one or more outside vendors and workrooms, we ask that you
please understand the time required for production. Custom orders will
take some time, and your designer will confer with you on estimated
availability and completion dates. Be sure to consult with your designer
on any time constraints you may have.
~ Fee Structure ~
Our
designers charge a fee of $50 to complete the initial consultation.
During this consultation, the designer will discuss a specific fee for
the entire project, or any portion of the project should you wish to
take a phased approach. These fees are payable directly to the designer
as services are rendered, and are not applied toward any purchases you
may make through our store. Also, a nominal fee may be charged for the
designer's travel outside of Augusta.
All fees will be discussed with you in advance so you can make an informed
decision on proceeding with the project. This also allows you to be
very comfortable with the value of the design services you receive.
Please do not hesitate to ask for a thorough explanation of the range
of services and fees available through Persnickety Interiors.
